Go ahead . . . make your space (Wikihouse)

WikiHouseNZ & Space Craft Systems

On Monday 28 October, many DIY and open-source building enthusiasts headed down to the CPSA building at CPIT to have a go at assembling a plywood kit Wikihouse and learn about putting house together from the ground up.

Assembled from a ‘printed’ plywood construction set, the Wikihouse doesn’t require conventional building skills or tools – anyone can design or participate in its construction.

This was a great opportunity to participate in an innovative build, as experienced volunteers led the assembly process.

Those at the workshop and others heard more about Wikihouse and open source construction sets that allow anyone to design, share and download building designs in the panel discussion entitled ‘How big is your sandpit? Lego for big kids: the reinvention of DIY in New Zealand architecture.’
