What stories and histories are embedded in our city landscape? Whakapapa literally means “to be grounded”; this project seeks to increase cultural locatedness within Ōtautahi Christchurch by highlighting five significant Māori sites in the form a treasure hunt trail.

At each site there is a free informative zine booklet for you to collect; can you find them all? The first site is along the riverbank in Victoria Square, next to a tī kōuka (cabbage tree)…
