Map: Where Can You Access Locally Produced Food in Christchurch?

Laura Dance (University of Canterbury)

The map

This research project arose as an internship between the University of Canterbury and Te Pūtahi. The purpose of this project was to co-create, with key community stakeholders, a map of locally sourced food in Christchurch. The mapping of these food sources  creates greater awareness of these resources, and encourages people to utilise these more and therefore eat healthier, fresh produce as well as support local businesses and growers.

The hope for the future of this map is that it becomes a community resource that is kept updated and enhanced.

To use: The different icons represent the different categories of the map; community gardens, farmers markets, pick-your-own farms, local sellers, and urban farms. Simply click on an icon to reveal information about the food resource.

Please ensure you consult with community gardens and urban farms regarding volunteering and harvesting protocols.
