Death Cafe is a global movement dedicated to creating more death-literate communities through simple conversation. At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death in a supportive environment. For a subject that is often difficult to talk about amongst friends and family, this format seems to make it easy for people to share ideas and stories and pose questions.

Melanie Mayell started the Christchurch Death Cafe over two years ago and she invites you to join in a hosted and informal conversation about anything to do with death and dying over cake and coffee, which can be purchased from the good folk at the Space Academy. No experience is necessary.
