Adapted Reuse Tour, 10.30am–12pm & 2–3.30pm, Mon 24 Oct

In 1932 a new state-of-the-art post office was opened on the corner of Tuam and High streets, but today it is better known as a popular destination for art, coffee and film lovers alike.

Laura Dunham led an informative street tour  through central Christchurch, allowing participants to pause, look closely at and appreciate buildings that have been adapted for reuse, including C1 Espresso, the Heritage Hotel, the City Council Chambers and many more. By pointing out materials, decorative elements and styles prominent in certain periods, and the stories to go with them, she left the groups with a far greater appreciation of the value of our built cultural heritage.
