16,000 people came into the city for Christchurch's biggest street party, which was live for one night only on Saturday 22 October. Free and open to all, Lean Means was FESTA 2016's headline event – a spectacular temporary city packed with imaginative installations, performance, markets, food, bars, music, art and more.

Inner city spaces were transformed with imaginative installations fabricated from reused ‘waste’ materials, in an international collaboration involving Creative Director Jos de Krieger (Superuse Studios) and students from seven leading design and architecture schools from across Australasia. Thousands of Cantabrians and visitors experienced a bold, reimagined Christchurch in this vibrant, collective celebration.
